Merger of the Long Eaton Cycling Club &
Long Eaton Paragon
2006 - 2007

The purpose of mergering Long Eaton CC with Long Eaton Paragon to form a new club -Velo Club Long Eaton - is to organise, promote and revitalise recreational and competitive cycling in Long Eaton and surrounding locality.
This Development Plan takes proper account of the long and distinguished traditions of both clubs and builds on the vision and energies of their founding members; and it seeks to incorporate and develop the respective heritage of both into a dynamic and forward looking Club.
The Development Plan initially covers the period 2006 to the year-end 2007.

Club runs & touring

2. Organises touring & hosteling in the UK and in mainland Europe. To continue... Reactivate & develop. Determine tour leaders.

Time Trials & Hill Climbs      
1. Club to promotes a full & varied calendar of events throughout the open season -Feb. to Sept. - an amalgam of both former clubs' open and club events. To promote 'X' events under BC, CTT etc. rules. To determine event organisers, time keepers & marshal's. Publish list of event & ensure that they are in the handbooks. Review 6 monthly, from Jan.2007
2. Continue the Club's midweek TT leagues To continue..., Organise & run on the Sutton Bonington courses. Review 6 monthly
Road & Circuit Racing      
1. Promote events for all categories -including races on new circuits as well as established events, (see new BC categories) Identify and promote 'X' number of events per season. Identify event organisers. Organise under BC rules Publicity & sponsorship.  
2.  Club members to compete in Audax & CycloSportives in the UK & in mainland Europe Encourage ex-racing cyclists to compete! Identify events& organise participation. April to Aug.
Track Racing 'to be developed - using local facilities and the Manchester Velodrome    
Cyclo Cross & MTB      
1. Continue to offer Cyclo Cross & MTB events under BCCA rules. Promote at least four open events per year. Identify events, organise & promote. Autumn to Spring.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES:      
1. Club meets weekly at the Club Room
in T (?) - for socialising, discussion & debate;
Information exchange, undertake range of social activities - throughout the year. Find a suitable venue -where young members can meet under supervision - preferably with a pub nearby for the 18+ ! (Social Secretary's job.) After the merger is complete d.
2. Club bulletin board to keep members informed of all its activities.      
2. Programme of entertainment and other fun activities. Organise.   pre. the actual merger date.
PUBLICATIONS:      
1.  Regular monthly Club News Letter -with general information, race results, club outings, social events etc. Keep member fully informed. Club Secretary to manage. Monthly task.
2. Create a Club web site, update Raise national profile. Computer buff req'd. Regular.
3. Promotional material aimed at prospective new members. Promote cycling locally. Marketing person req'd. Ongoing.
4. Publish Reports on activities. Information network.
Committee's responsibility. Bi-monthly
MARKETING:      
1. Develop links with the media and potential sponsors locally. Raise cycling's profile PR Secretary's role. With immediat e effect.
2. Contact local schools and youth clubs. Marketing manager's task    
3. Promote use of Club cycle clothing. PR & image building.
Club kit officer's job. At merger.
NETWORKS:      
Consolidate links with local authorities, police,
cycling bodies & other relevant organisations.
Raise cycling's profile as a safe pastime & sport. Designated Committee members. Pre-merger.
EQUALITY & CHILD PROTECTION:      
1. Club to investigate ways of encouraging females & disabled people to take up cycling. Cycling as sport for all. Designated Committee members. Ongoing.
2. Provide a secure environment for younger club members, in accordance with the Children Act. Implement CRE guidelines.   Cycling as a 'model of good practice.' Register & obtain grant aid. With immediat e effect.
TRAINING & COACHING:      
1. Club to offer a range of training & coaching for -
Road
Off road
Gymnasium.
To acquire basic skills to
ride safely & competitively.
Provide expert & supervised
