There was a good turn-out of 18 riders (11 Club and 7 Private) for the Velo Club's first time trial of the 2010 season, the 15 mile Hilly TT on the West Leake - Kingston circuit. Luckily we escaped the ice, and had brilliant sunshine for the event, but there was a strong, cold North-easterly wind.
Mark Redwood retained the Hilly TT Trophy but was over 1 minute slower than last year in 38-21. There were good rides from second placed Jon Hartley, 41-18, and third placed Del Pitcher, 42-10. Full list of riders and times on the Results page.
The event was well marshalled - thanks to all helpers.

Brian Peto kicked off the VC Long Eaton Open season with a 28 minute ride in the Coalville Wheelers 10 mile TT at Griffydam.
Mark Redwood started his Open season in the Leicestershire RC Hilly 29 mile TT, taking 5th place in 1-13-48 behing winner James Perkins (Zenith CC) 1-10-06.
On the Road Race scene, our veterans Brian Peto and Mick Draper competed in the first of the Veterans RR League event at Car Colston, East Notts. Brian finished just behind the main bunch over the line while Mick managed to complete the course saying " I wasn't lantern rouge !!"
This weekend (10/4/10), Mark Redwood and Russ Holmes rode the Ashfield RC 2-up '25' at Griffydam. They finished 2nd place in the 'Club Team' category in 58-17 behind South Pennine RC pair Charles Taylor and Chris Storer who recorded a 56 minute ride.
